To the International Day of Youth




As of January 1, 2022, 617,900 young people aged 15–34 lived in the Lviv region. The share of young people in the total number of residents was 25.1%, and relative to January 1, 2011, it decreased by 6 percentage points. 59.8% of young people lived in cities.

For every thousand women aged 15–34, there were 1,036 men. During 2021, 11,300 women (82.2% of all women who got married) and 10,500 men (76.6%) got married in Lviv region in the age 16–34 years. In general, women married at a younger age than men: the average age of the bride was 29, and the groom was 32.

In 2021, 16,500 students received a certificate of completion of general secondary education. At the beginning of the 2021/22 academic year, 17,900 students aged 15–34 studied in vocational pre-higher education institutions of the region, 87,500 students studied in higher education institutions. In the course of 2021, 21,200 students acquired the profession of skilled workers in vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions. By the beginning of 2022, 1,509 young people were studying in postgraduate programs of higher education institutions and scientific institutions.

The highest level of employment among young people was at the age of 30–34 years and amounted to 74.9% of the total population of the corresponding age group; 73.7% of people aged 25–29 were employed, as well as 26.2% at the age of 15–24.
