To the Mother’s Day



Mother’s Day is celebrated in the second week of May every year.


The population of women in Lviv region is estimated at 1.3 million or 53% of the total population, 84% of women are mothers.

In 2021, in Lviv region were 19.4 babies born to 19.3 thousands mothers, of which 57% are urban residents. Approximately 52% of all births were boys and 48% were girls. Included in these figures are 496 twins and 9 triplets.
The proportion of women aged 30–39 years have had a child was 41% in 2021, about up 2% the percentage from year ago.

The average age of women giving birth in 2021 was 29 years, (in 2015 - 27 years).

Of the total number women on giving birth some 52.1% of women have two children, 36.7% one child, 7.3% - three children, 3.1% - four, and only 0.8% of women are raising five or more children.

In Lviv region 139 children was born by women under 17 years. In 2021, as against 2020, the teen birth grew by 14.9% and compared with 2015 are slow 1.7 times.

The number of children born outside of marriage were 1322 (6.8% of total number of children born in region) this was 17% less the value in 2020 and was 1.6 times less than in 2015.

The number of children born outside of marriage are 34% higher in urban than in rural area.
