To the Day of Knowledge


Every year on September 1, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Knowledge.

At the beginning of the 2021/2022 academic year, 419,100 students were obtaining education in all educational institutions in the Lviv region.
Among children and young people aged 6-22 years, 90.2% of people are enrolled in education.
1,130 institutions of general secondary education functioned in the region, including 127 primary schools, 402 gymnasiums, 582 lyceums and 19 specialized schools.
289,200 students studied in all general secondary education institutions (11.1% more than in 2015/2016). The educational process was provided by 34,000 teachers.

Vocational and technical training was provided by 53 institutions in which 21,200 students studied, which is 27.1% less compared to the 2015/2016 academic year.
18,300 students and 2,900 teachers studied and worked in 20 institutions of professional pre-higher education correspondingly.

In the Lviv region, 21 institutions provided services in the field of higher education, in which 90,400 students obtained their education. Out of the total number of students, 2,632 are foreign students, of whom 38.8% are women.
In terms of the number of students in higher education institutions, the region ranked third among the regions of Ukraine.
In 2021, 77,500 people worked in the field of education (7.5% of the number of people employed in the region), which is 20.0% less than in 2020.
The average monthly nominal salary of educators in 2021 was UAH 11,928, which is 29.0% more than in 2020, but 4.8% less than the regional average.
